BRASS BAND AID is a charitable organisation formed by members of Stanhope Silver Band. In 2005 our band collaborated in recording a Charity CD with 3 other bands from the North of England. Barnard Castle, Broughtons & Ferryhill Bands all enthusiastically gave their services, and we were delighted to be supported by the Brass Band Aid Celebrity Band, made up of the finest brass band players of our generation and conducted by Richard Evans.
The project was intended to give musicians a challenging activity whilst raising some funds fora worthy cause, and importantly to highlight the Make Poverty History campaign. To our delight, brass bands around the world seemed to adopt this project and as a result of everyone’s efforts, £46,000 was donated to the Christian Charity World Vision to build a school for the community of ADET in Ethiopia.
